RIDING A SCHOOL BUS
The Madison County Board of Education provides bus transportation to students who are eligible to ride based on state and local board of education provisions. Safety is of utmost importance in the transportation of students; therefore, the board expects students to follow strictly all rules and regulations regarding school buses. Students who violate established rules and regulations regarding bus use, or who exhibit behavior deemed inappropriate and/or detrimental to the safe transportation of students, will not be allowed to ride school buses.
If your child is to ride another bus or get off at a different stop, the school needs a signed note from the parent, which includes a phone number at which the parent can be contacted in case verification is needed. Students should give the note to the homeroom teacher. Someone from the office will sign the note and return it to the student. The student will give the signed note to the bus driver. In an emergency, parents may call the school to request a change of bus or transportation. Should there be a question of the caller’s identity, the request will be denied.
Bus riders will begin loading at 2:30.
UNLOAD: Do not drop off students before 7:15 a.m. No supervision will be provided before this time. Students are to unload from cars in the front of the building in the morning at the main entrance. Because of safety issues, please do not drop students off at other areas of the school campus.
LOAD: Students may be picked up in the front of the building at the main entrance. Cars will be loaded in the order in which they pull up behind the buses. Students will not be allowed to leave the school and walk to a car that is parked. Parents must be in the car rider line. Car riders will be dismissed at 2:30 p.m. Students who are not picked up by 2:45 p.m. will be sent to extended day and will be charged accordingly.
